A multicultural MBA experience in The University of Adelaide, Australia.

The University of Adelaide MBA Program

The University of Adelaide is a great university! Not only does it have a strong international reputation its also considered one of the top eight universities in Australia!

FACT:
Founded in 1874, the university now has over 16,000 students from 70 countries! Talk about multicultural!

One of the reasons why the University of Adelaide is a great place to take up an MBA is its location. The campus itself is located in the center of the city, which makes it easy to get from place to place. If you feel like it you can walk, or you can take the bus, the tram or even the train to get around the city. Transportation is no problem at all.

The city of Adelaide itself is a lot of fun. It's got huge parklands and plenty of historical places of interest. It may not be as big as Melbourne or Sydney, but Adelaide has its own charms. In fact, one of the best things about studying in Adelaide its the low cost of living despite the fact that its still one of Australia 's major cities.

Studying MBA in the University of Adelaide

The uni has two types of MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree programs. They are MBA and MBA (Advanced).

The basic MBA offered by the University of Adelaide is a 12-course program. You'll be able to pick up essential areas of business management from this program. As for MBA (Advanced), its pretty much the same as the basic MBA program except that you get to do 4 extra courses. The 4 courses will be electives of your choice. The extra 4 courses are great if you want to broaden your studies or specialize in something.

And if you can't decide right off the bat which course you want to do, that's fine. The university is quite flexible and if you started of with the 12-course MBA you can take up 4 extra courses at the end and still get an MBA (Advanced). Or if you started off with the MBA (Advanced) and midway through you feel that 16 courses is too much you can just stop at 12 and get your MBA then.

FACT:
The MBA program takes 3 to 5 to complete and the MBA (Advanced) takes 4 to 6 trimester. Each trimester lasts for 12 weeks.

Some of the core subjects for the MBA at the University of Adelaide will include things like, accounting for managers, managerial economics and fundamentals of leadership. And if you decide to take up the 16 course MBA (Advance) you'll get a chance to learn more about global branding and international marketing (If you pick them as your electives of course).

If you want to do your MBA at the University of Adelaide you need to have a minimum of a degree from a recognized institution and 2 years work experience . There will also be a few things you will need to submit. A quick admissions checklist:

  • Completed Admission form
  • Certified copies of your degree cert and official transcripts
  • 2 written referee reports
  • IELTS results
  • GMAT results (optional)
  • Application fee

Student Life

The people at the University of Adelaide are quite helpful, and it seems that they really make an effort to help their students (especially international students) feel comfortable.

Besides the usual orientation program, there is also a Bridging Program to help international students adapt to their new surroundings . If you're the kind of person who likes attending workshops and hanging out with people, then you can also enjoy the Learning and Teaching Development Unit set up at the University of Adelaide .

The facilities there are also quite fantastic. They have study centers and recreational areas that you can use 24 hours a day! The uni also subscribes to a large number of useful online databases. Imagine what you could do with vast collections of current management journals from around the world at your fingertips.

At The End Of The Day

Overall, there's very little you could go wrong by picking to go to the University of Adelaide to do a MBA program. You're guaranteed a paper qualification that will be well-recognized and great opportunities to network yourself. And you know how important it is to know people in the business world. But one of the best things about doing your MBA there is that you're going to come away with a fantastic life experience. The only thing you might not like about studying in Adelaide is that it is one of the quieter Australian cities. But that's just down to personal taste and there's really nothing the university can do about that.
