A Simple GMAT Guide On The Basic Exam Preparation Needed For This Examination.

The GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test is an exam that every prospective MBA student must take. It is an examination that tests your verbal, quantitative, analytical as well as writing skills. It is essential that you achieve a good score on your GMAT because it can influence whether or not you qualify for a MBA program at a university.

Exam preparation is crucial and this GMAT guide will help you with tips on how to score on the test . The first thing you need to know is that there are 3 major sections to the exam that you have to prepare for.

1. Verbal
2. Quantitative
3. Analytical Writing

Exam preparation includes practicing with sample questions and test papers. These sample or practice questions are easily available from the Graduate Management Admission Council website. The key to doing well in a GMAT is through practice and exam preperation.

Any guide to GMAT will also encourage you to develop a strategy as you go through the sample questions. This is because you will have a time limit for each section of the examination. You will have 75 minutes for 37 quantitative questions 75 minutes for 41 verbal questions and lastly you will be required to compose 2 essays in 30 minutes for the analytical writing section. 75 minutes is not very long for the amount of questions that you will have to answer so you cannot afford to waste any time. Exam preparation via sample questions will help you get use to the format and prevent you from panicking and wasting time on the examination date itself.

Apart from downloading and practicing on the sample questions and test papers, it is also advisable that you purchase or browse through GMAT guides that are available in book stores as well as other websites. There are also audio files and other sample exam papers that you can download to learn from and practice on.

Doing well in a GMAT examination is crucial to whether or not you are applicable for a MBA degree program. However even if you fail to achieve a high score the first time around, you will get other chances to try again. The Graduate Management Admissions Test can be taken once a month and your scores from the latest test and the two preceding test dates within the past five years will be used when you submit an application to a university or school.
